The STANDARD
Diane Lowe, Chair, John Deere Classic Standard Bearers
WELCOME FOR 2010!The count down is on and the tournament is just around the corner – these next two months will go fast so don’t delay in getting your registration in! What’s Up This Year:• New volunteers: are asked to sign up for three shifts (1 walking and 2 alternate) for time slots on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The alternate positions are very important and will help our “newbies” get the feel of the course. Also, new volunteers are REQUIRED to attend the training clinic mentioned below (even if they don't mini golf) or be out at the tournament on Tuesday afternoon (time to be determined) July 6. We know we make being a Standard Bearer look easy, but there is a lot to go over. Proper etiquette aside, we are always “on camera” when out on the course in front of the crowd. • Returning Volunteers: All returning volunteers are required to attend the training clinic described below. • Weekends: In order to work the weekend we are asking all returning volunteers to choose a Wednesday or Thursday to walk or serve as an alternate in addition to working the weekend. Three time slots are still required. • Uniform: This year our uniform shirt is a yellow (sleeveless for the Ladies). As usual, volunteers are asked to wear khaki colored shorts, skorts or Bermuda-style shorts. Please be aware that the Standard Bearers are not to wear “short” shorts. We want to convey a professional image when we are out on the course. If you are not sure please check with Diane or Pat as far as length. Some “skort” varieties are ok to wear, as long as they fall approximately three inches above the knee. SAVE THE DATES:Uniform Distribution will be at the Deere & Company Administration Center. Please pickup your uniform order from the Standard Bearers Table only. Uniform Distribution dates and times: Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm June 27 - In-Service Clinic and Standard Bearer Mini Golf Tournament! Registration is
8:30am and then a brief overview from 9:00AM to 9:30AM. We will start mini golf
after the overview. ...and then our follow up at Mulligan's next door!
The clinic will be at the Valley Falls Adventure Golf, 324 W 1st Ave., Coal Valley, IL 61240 Birdies for Charity – Birdie #250The Standard Bearers have taken a Birdies for Charity cause to heart by helping the Make A Wish Foundation. This is a passion especially for Diane in memory of her nephew Jeffrey, and for Julie in memory of her son Casey. Both boys were recipients of their wishes… and we use this opportunity to help other children in their situations to have one of their dreams come true. One hundred percent of all pledge money goes to our charity, and there are always the Bonus Bucks that we earn as well. Pledge forms are available from any of us on the Standard Bearer committee. We are well on our way to being able to provide another wish for a local QC youth! Mark Birdie #250 on your form! Any questions can be directed to Diane Lowe, 309-314-2558 email stickchick1@yahoo.com Thanks and we look forward to seeing you in July! |
