Why we volunteer

Welcome to the 2008 John Deere Classic and thank you for your interest in serving as a JDC volunteer. Since the tournament was founded in the Quad Cities in 1971, the purpose has been to provide the area with a major league sporting event that helps raise money for charity.

The JDC continues to be the leading charity fundraiser per capita on the tour. This is possible only because of volunteers like you. Thank you for your hard work in the past; we are looking forward to working with you this year.

How do I register

Please do one of the following:

  • Online Registration - go to www.jdclassic.org/volunteers and register online.  The saves both you and the tournament time and money.

  • Complete one of the enclosed registration cards and drop it in the mail today.  Photocopy extra letters and cards to give to friends and invite them to come and work with you.

Note:  To save postage we generally send one registration letter per address.

If you are a member of a service organization, please ask if the club members would consider making marshaling a club project and work as a team.

Registration instructions

We ask you to volunteer at least 2 full days, Wednesday through Sunday. Complete all information on the enclosed registration card:

·        include any physical limitations, hole preferences or friends you want to partner with as volunteers

·        mail to Mr. Ken Stotmeister, P.O.Box 1351, Bettendorf, Iowa  52722-0023 today.

Important: Mail in registration deadline is June 1st, 2008.  Online registration deadline is June 8th, 2008. This allows us to have your schedule ready for you when you pick up your uniform. Your work location and other information will be provided with your uniform.

Once your card is received you are registered as a marshal for the days you requested. There will be no further mailings.  You will be able to check you hole assignment online by tournament week.

Parking

For 2008 – All volunteer parking will be at the River Bend Industrial Center (the old John Deere Foundry) at 1300 19th Street East Moline. There will be signs posted for your benefit on nearby streets. Please park in the designated Volunteer Parking as this is the only FREE parking for volunteers. Shuttle busses will take you directly to the TPC Club House and pick you up there to return you to the River Bend Industrial Center. Golf carts will be available to shuttle you from the clubhouse to your work location. (Marshals with mobility limitations may request assignments near the clubhouse, i.e., 6, 9, 10, 15, or 17.) If you park anywhere else you will be responsible for any parking fees and you will be dropped off at the main gate.
