Frequently Asked Questions

Why do volunteers have to pay for their shirts and hats?

The obvious answer is to reduce our costs so the tournament has an opportunity to pass more money on to the charities we support.  It should be noted that uniforms are a very high quality product and because we purchase in volumes we get a significant price break, which is passed on.

Can I request to marshal a specific hole?

Yes.  We do our best to satisfy all requests.  If we did not accommodate your request it is for one of two of the following reasons;

1)      An organization is responsible to provide all marshals for a hole. Currently holes 1, 7, 16, 18 are supported by local Rotary Clubs.

2)         The volunteer resource pool isn’t large enough to support the marshal responsibilities for a given day.  Our pool of volunteers is short on Wednesday and Sunday.

Can I request to marshal with a group of friends?

Yes.  We encourage you to recruit and marshal with your friends. You and your friends must indicate all the members names of your group on each person’s Marshal Registration Card.

Can I request to be a Hole Captain?

Yes. We are currently recruiting additional Hole Captains. We do require that a Hole Captain have experience as a marshal and they understand the commitment and personnel management capabilities required.

Can I purchase my uniform and hat by mail and have it sent to me?

Sorry.  At this time the only procedure to purchase your uniform is for you or a friend to pick it up at the Uniform Store, see the “Uniform Pickup” topic on the Marshal Home Page.

When do I get my marshal work assignment?

When you pick up your uniform, you must stop by at the Marshal Table. We can record requests for assignment changes at that time. We realize that situations change and we must be flexible.

Where do I park?

All volunteer parking will be located at the River Bend Industrial Center (Old John Deere Foundry). There will be no on course parking.  If you park in the other lots, you will be charged a fee.  Volunteers will be shuttled by bus to the Deere Run Clubhouse.

Golf carts will be available to shuttle those with mobility problems from the Marshals Tent north of the clubhouse to your work location. Marshals with mobility limitations may request assignments near the clubhouse, i.e., 6, 9, 10, 15, or 17.  If you ask the Shuttle Bus Driver nicely, they may drop you at the Main Entrance Gate closer to your Hole assignment.  Click on the maps below for a larger view.
